The Modern Dancing Ensemble "Light" has existed since 1994 in Rivne City Children and Youth Palace, The ensemble is attached to the modem Choreography School of RCCYP. The ensemble consists of the apprentices of the school men­tioned above. That makes up about 80 members structurally divided into 3 age groups: junior, intermediate and senior. In 1998 the ensemble was awarded in the title of "Exemplary", which was confirmed in 2002.

In 2002 ensemble created a concert performing staff which consisted of the first alumni, who had covered the first full 10-year-long academic course and the modem Choreography School leaving certificates. The 1st professional dancing company of Western Ukraine works in the trend of modem choreography art and consists of 15 talented performers (8girls and 7 boys), who are the first alumni MCS RCCYP. These alumni wished to continue their creative way in choreography further on and to implement the acquired knowledge skills and habits, being at the same time dancers and students of Rivne Higher Educational Establishments. That is why there was a need to create a separate artistic group which would enroll nine-year students of MCS in full MCS alumni, students, pedagogues and young people, who possess habits and knowledge of choreographic art.

The objective of the dancing group activity is: revealing and implementation of each participant's creative potential and professional growth.

The main tasks are:

• propaganda of modern choreographic art in our region and throughout the country;
• mastering performing skills;
• making own big contribution into art happenings on the international level.

The artistic direction of the ensemble repertoire lies in de­veloping such trends of modern art as: jazz-modern, afrojazz, blues-jazz, fank-jazz, contemporary, modern dance, street jazz, acrobatic dance, tapdance.

The Light Dance Company repertoire embraces more then 50 original ballet-mastered performances staged by Natalia Storozhuk, Olena Dodchuk and Olena Korotiejeva, as well as masterpieces of the world choreography art laders like Michelle Dorrance, Davin Pullins, Derrel Bullock, Ciudia Raargianoto Wayne McGregor, Geraldina Armstrong and others. Each dancing performance displays the message of the stage-manager, her vision and non-standard interpretation of the idea, the right use of choreographic means relevance of costumes and properties.

Spectacular dancing performances of Light Dance Company are vividly remembered by the audience, creating a bright and unique atmosphere at any party. A separate concert programme of the dancing group is a multicoloured showy,
which gives aesthetic pleasure both to its participants and the audience.

The Light Dance Company is known not only in the town and region but all over Ukraine and abroad. It has repeatedly been a laureate and the Grand-Prix winner of Ukrainian national as well as international choreography contests and festivals. The "Light Dance Company" presented its touring concert performances all over Ukraine (Kyiv, Cherivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Ternopil, kharkiv, Skadovsk, Uzhgorod), Lithuanian Republic (Vilnius Klaipeda, Palanga, Taurage) Poland (Cracow), Slovakia (Koshytse), Hungary (Myshkolts), Turkey(Analia), Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnoarmijsk).

In 2004,2005 and 2006 'Light' was generally recognised as the Best Choreography Group which testifies its high popularity rate. In 2007 "Light" was awarded with an honorary title of "Peoples" Choreography ensemble.
